I went with the kids to Porto Santo last summer and we had a great time. It is essentially one long beach with a bit of an island attached. 9 kilometers of soft volcanic sands and it is literally paradise in paradise!
For beach lovers the water is incredible. So many shades of turquoise and emerald that could rival any Caribbean sea and with golden sands.
For foodies, you will be impressed with local dishes such as Espetada, cubes of beef grilled on a skewer and espada, a strange but delicious fish served with banana. There's also bolo do caco, a bread made with sweet-potato flour which the kids couldn't resist :)
There are three restaurants in particular that I would recommend all family run serving fresh food: Pauda Poncha,Panorama and Vila Miseria
Have a super time!
