1. DKK is the official currency of Denmark and was launched on 1st January 1875.
2. The word krone means "crown" and is often referred to as "Danish Crown".
3. In Denmark, first systematic minting was materialised in the 10th century and labelled as KorsmØnter backed by Harald Bluetooth. Although, the oldest Danish coin which is penny came into existence around AD 825 to AD 840.
4. DKK is also a legal tender of both Greenland and the Faroe Islands.
5. Besides, Danish Krone is pegged closely to the euro in ERM II, i.e. EU'S exchange rate mechanism at a ratio of 7.46 krone to one euro.
6. Danish Krone banknotes are available in 50kr, 100kr, 200kr, 500kr and 1000kr denominations.
7. In addition, around 2006 the Danish National Bank started the process of designing "Bridge" banknotes which consisted of the theme of Danish bridges and their surrounding landscape.
