1. The official and national currency of the African Nations, including Kenya, Sudan, and Somalia, is the Kenyan Shilling.
2. KES replaced east African shilling in 1966 at par.
3. Recently in January 2021, after many setbacks, the KES/USD exchange rate is equal to 110 KES, which is by far the highest in terms of the exchange rate.
4. KES is managed and maintained in the global forex market by the Central Bank of Kenya.
5. An alternative way to access financial services is also introduced in Kenya for the local population, which is known as M-Pesa, launched in 2007.
6. KES is also announced as the most stable currency in East Africa.
7. Available denominations are 50 KSh, 100 KSh, 200 KSh, 500 KSh, 1000 KSh.
